New Build Video: Custom Downpipe for a B20 Turbo EG Hatch (TIG Welding)
If you’re into boost, clean fab work, and seeing parts built from scratch, this one’s for you. 🔥
In this episode, I TIG-welded a custom downpipe for my cousin’s B20 Turbo EG Hatch. It’s a short but satisfying look at the routing, fitment, and getting everything lined up the right way.

What I Did in This Build
In this clip, I focused on:
- Downpipe routing and layout for proper flow
- Clearance + fitment so nothing hits or rattles
- Tack welding + TIG welding for strength and clean joints
- Setting up the next steps for the rest of the exhaust system
Why a Custom Downpipe Matters
On a turbo setup, the downpipe is everything. A good one:
- Improves exhaust flow (less restriction)
- Helps manage heat and positioning
- Prevents cracks and leaks from bad alignment
- Keeps clearance tight where it needs to be (chassis/subframe)
If the fitment is off, you’ll feel it later—boost leaks, vibrations, broken welds… all that drama. We’re doing it right from the start.
Want Part 2?
If you want me to keep going with this build, next up could be:
- Part 2: finishing the midpipe / exhaust routing
- Part 3: v-bands, hangers, and support brackets
- Part 4: startup + sound + first pull (if we get there 👀)
